Would you say no?

My boss texted the other night saying he was giving me the following day off. That I had been working hard for the company.

I thanked him, but declined his offer. Stating I had a lot on my work plate and I would feel better getting things done rather than fretting the end of the week.

Crazy? Probably.

Something about being caught up that brings happiness. It's probably something we should focus on as we get older. The clock clicks by too quickly to be constantly fretting about work.

Yes, being caught up is the goal. We have many irons in the fire and as the office person I seem to have the job of moving them forward. Taking a day off only to have twice the load upon returning is not relaxing.
