Yard Sale Today

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Scouting in the United States.
This June we are traveling to Washington DC to take part in a sing-a-long on the National Mall with other Girl Scouts from around the world.
This Sunday, today, we are holding a yard sale, to raise money so our scouts can attend the sing-a-long.

Location: Our front lawn -- for once it pays to be on a busy street.
Time: 8 AM to we sell out. Come early -- help us set up!
Stuff, stuff and more stuff: Some antiques, some collectibles, some LLBEAN and NorthFace, plenty of books, I think there is a DVD player in the pile, golf clubs and a few wave boards, and great clothes for all ages.

All proceeds go to Girl Scout Troop 72148.
Come On By!!!

Melvin E. Emrich

We will remember you.

Flags at the Cemetery

Today the town Girl Scouts are pitching in to place new flags on the graves of veterans. An important jesture of respect to those who gave so much for so many.

Rest in Peace

Thank you for your sacrifices.

Is it summer yet?

Yesterday I spent the better part of my day filling out forms for summer camp, and then arranging for time off to drop off and pick up as well as attend Open Houses. I feel as if the hustle and bustle of summer is upon us already. And I'm already struggling to balance work, with life.

Am I being thrown to the alligators?

Last summer I didn't work and I was miserable and missed it. This summer I'm working and already I'm feeling stretched. Interesting how life changes when the virtual shoe is on the other foot. It will be interesting to experience summer at the day to day level.

Lessons learned.

And what would you do at Disney?

During our recent trip, I asked a cast member, what is his role as a Disney Trainer. His first comment to me was, it was my passion to work for Disney. And that presently he trains people to work several different attractions at Epcot. But his favorite job is the tip board.

I know how he feels. I want to be a person that waves on Main Street USA or maybe I could recruit Sorcerers. Basically, I want to greet people, smile, to be there to usher in the magic. But I could also be a PhotoPass Photographer. There is so much excitement in catching the right smile, that right look. But then after our Behind the Seeds tour in the Land at Epcot, I realized that having done tissue culture and other plant science techniques, that I would fit in there as well. And I would be in heaven to take care of the animals in Animal Kingdom. Shoveling out stalls, and grooming animals would be wonderful. Yeah, I could do that too.

What did that Disney Trainer share with me about his passion for Disney, he said, "I would have swept up after the horses to get a job here." Yes, I know that feeling. I think I would too.

Is it the Mouse?

Patty, what is it with Disney? The rides? The food? The parades? The music? The challenging 1300 mile round trip current door to door? The nonstop fun days and even longer nights? In a word, no. But it is unequivocally what the Mouse represents. It is the excellence and customer service and being with people with the same goal towards excellence that compel me to move, to want to be a part of it all, to pitch in and help -- tomorrow.

With Disney, it's in the details.

I looked up at the Tower of Terror and saw this.

Disney is details. Nothing is left to chance.
Thank you Disney.

Can you see it now?

Six More Hours

And we will be home, barring traffic and or weather tie ups. Right now, home is about as apparent as the fish in this photo. Can you see it? It's right in front of you.

Life Like Weather

For both have silver linings. Look for them. They're in there. Lucky for us.

Do you belong to a Cool Club?

Worldwide we are invited to be cool. To be loving, caring, concerned -- to be the coolest of the cool.

You've Got A Friend In Me

Tangles

Dance like no one is watching...

Lucky enough to dine in Germany yesterday. I was amazed when the music started, in a very large room full of mostly adults, only two wildly appropriate children danced. Everyone watching the pair was smiling.

Embrace the joys of life like a child.

Do you welcome or receive?

If you welcome, you reach out to others. If you receive, you wait to see what your guests have brought to you before acknowledging them.

Always welcome. Always. Always.

Next Stop

Life.
Catch the bus.
Don't delay.
It's one way.

The New Mii

Blessed Mother Theresa said, "If you you can't do great things, then do small things with great love." And with that -- May I present the new shorter-haired Mii.

My hair cut and donated to Locks of Love.

Really how hard is it to grow one's hair... For me, luckily, not hard at all. Whomever gets my hair; enjoy.

Won't You Make God Your Friend

Quotes from Gurumayi's talk - Won't You Make God Your Friend

"Without this living grace, we project wrongness on God and others..."

When we should be asking ourselves

"What is my part in this?
How have I aggravated people?
How have I pushed people away?"

More Than Meets the Eye

Art, like life, is a composite of many themes. It takes balance to understand and appreciate the big picture. Life, like art, is a work in progress. Sometimes you don't have all the pieces. And that's okay too.

Anticipation

Anticipation
It's keeping me wa - a -a - iting.

Ever wait for something? Christmas, Easter, a birthday,
a vacation in the planning for over a year?

And with all things, soon it will be here.
And sooner it will be over.
Did we really do that?

Enough Said

Public Service Announcement: RoundUp

I truly believe God wastes nothing. So today's post is in response to yesterday's excitement.

When using RoundUp to eradicate weeds avoid skin exposure. RoundUp penetrates the skin and the active ingredient glyphosate mimics adrenaline.

Enough said.

Prepare Ye The Way

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord

Yesterday was the start of the holiest week of the year for Catholics and Christians alike, Palm Sunday. Today I substitute teach fourth graders in religious ed. The subject: this week and what it means to our faith. I have an hour... where do I begin? There is so much, that even after 50 plus years in this faith I'm still learning. An hour... one hour... just one... Prepare Ye The Way of The Lord.
