Re-entry

Disney isn't a place. It's a purpose, a mindset, a focus, a way of life.

What is it about Disney?

It's the love.
It's the making sure that every guest is made to feel special.
That their needs are not only met, but exceeded.
That guests are greeted with a warm heart.

What would I do to work at Disney?
Clean up after the residences at Animal Kingdom
Be that PhotoPass person who captures magical moments
Wave on Main Street USA
Clean bathrooms till they shine
Spread Pixie Dust
Guest Relations - Lost & Found
Freight brokerage... even that.
Anything and everything that promotes good will.

Let Me Show You Disney's Secret For Success

It's in each and every Cast Member. Striving to make each and every guest's experience magical.

Yeah! I want that job.

What do you plan for?

Mention Disney and Epcot is the next word. Followed by the UK. These gentlemen are never missed. And most visits they are watched more than once. Do they know their high rating on the vacation scale?

Watch For It!

How many times does inconvenience turn into opportunity? Where you are so totally lucky to be in the wrong spot at the correct time. Truly an ah-ha moment.

What goes around...

Comes around. Yesterday as we road the bus to Epcot a little princess announced to her king that they had forgotten their pins for trading. Having 4 pins in my pocket, I handed them to her dad and wished them Happy Trading.

Later in the day my own princess noticed a very nice Goofy pin on a gentleman's lanyard and he invited her to trade. We didn't have a pin of the same caliber but he still accepted. His wife whispered, but I still heard, "But that was a favorite." The man replied. "It's all about the kids."

Surely there is powerful magic in this place.

Challenges

It's totally sweet when challenges transform into passions.

For those in the know: Betty it was so nice to see you.

Choose your words carefully

This warning could have read: Do Not Cross.
It's not what you say, it's how you say it.
Please and thank you do carry an incredible weight.
So does the lack of please and thank you.

It's the little things.

Like always remembering I can't drink caffeinated coffee. And going back when the cups aren't marked... Just to make sure. Or sending us home early on snowy days. And paying our hourly wages anyway.

This kindness is not so random.

Friend Jeff Noel, Disney Cast Member, Inspirational Speaker, Author, Husband and Father is working to find a cure for an incurable disease, Crohn's Disease. And as he teaches and lives: If your goals aren't impossible then you aren't reaching high enough.

How can you help? You will be glad you asked. Thanksgiving 2013 Jeff published his first book: Mid Life Celebration. And this Valentine's Weekend he is offering a very special challenge and quite the deal.

The details are:
  1. To buy a copy (or as many as possible) or not. If no, the challenge ends.
  2. If yes to getting a copy (copies), to do it now, over Valentine’s Day weekend.

Saturday, will be making an absurd 24 hour offer. Anyone purchasing 17 copies or more (dream big or go home, right?), I'll provide three free books for each one purchased (54 free, collector’s edition galley proofs).

Insane?

Yes.

Will even cover the shipping in the USA.

The galley proofs are the same book on Amazon, but with a hidden ‘Trinity’ of typos on page 59.

  • Am determined to make this go viral.
  • Feel no pressure to lend a hand, yet know it would be cool to work together.
  • One inspired & generous reader has started a book club, launching with MLC latter this month.

Feeling all it will take over the weekend to get to ‘best-seller status' is selling 50 books.

This designation, even briefly, helps build buzz.

Buzz helps sell more books.

More books helps get speaking gigs. Gigs are were the revenue is generated… money that will help fund a cure.

Make no small plans.

As Jeff says, "Sooner or later it becomes crystal clear. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live like you mean it."

Can you do one random act of kindness?

Can you send Colin a birthday card before March 9th? The little guy is turning 11, and thought he had no friends. According to Facebook he now has a million plus on his side and it's growing.

The world certainly does have a gentle heart.

It was another night of math.

Where did the evening go?

Planned to ride the bike but spent the evening doing math with my daughter. She would do the problem. I would do the problem. We would then compare answers. I learn so much from my kids and their homework. Love math almost as much as I love my children.

I'm Amazed Actually

Monday morning if you told me I would enjoy jumping on the treadmill for a quick walk I would have reiterated, I'm sick. No way.

Monday after work the same question would have gotten the same response. But later last night, around 7, feeling like my old self, a miraculous recovery, I opted for a lighter workout than riding my bike.

I wonder if I would have recovered as quickly if I were not "as healthy as I am." That being having a BMI of 20.5 (healthy range) after losing 34 pounds and keeping it off now for 3 months.   Now if we could just get my blood pressure to cooperate I'd be all set...

So... What's the first thing that falls off your plate?

Saturday morning I started with cold symptoms. Went to exercise and my daughter advised me not to. Time for Mass and I asked my dad to drive. We were celebrating my parents' 55th anniversary starting with Mass and then a meal. And I was too spent to drive.

Sunday came and I didn't get out of bed for much.

Monday still under the weather but markedly improved.

First off the plate: Exercise followed by blogging. And eating.

Feeling better: Resumed eating, blogging and tonight I'll jump on the treadmill for some moderate walking. Will ride my bike tomorrow.  Can't wait.

Can you be thankful for a foot of snow?

Yes, I believe you can. For shoveling showed me that I can move mountains; one scoop at a time.

It's decided.

When I grow up I want to be kind. And then whatever else I do will be just fine. Get it?

As a creator...

I wonder if God sees the mistakes? Or does He get caught up in the wonder, so that uneven soldering and junctions go unnoticed? Does He say next time I'll do better? Or does He step back and say it is good.
It is life.
Cast your best light.
