Now this is cool.

We are helping friends with a summer's worth of construction projects. Yesterday we put in new ceiling joists in the attic. A wonderful new tool, a giant laser that spins, makes leveling the beams so much easier. Oh my goodness, isn't technology wonderful!

What's a long way?

Boston to Orlando is a long drive? Yes, it's long but very doable. And not scary. But what is really long, scary and seemingly impossible? How about this ladder, 3.5 stories? Now that's a long way.

Time Passes

Much love has transpired since this picture was drawn.

Today's. Challenge.

We are hitting the hills of Nobscot. We might not to fast but we are determined. And honestly I'm a little nervous. They are like the hills of Vermont but closer to home, with more traffic. Relax. Breathe.

Yesterday I realized you can't say the words "You are my dearest friend" without feeling that love radiate back on yourself. Friendship, the gift that gives.

Map Out Your Future

It's a good to have some idea which life's roads you will travel. Not that the plans are set in stone, but it gives you a direction to head for. A goal. A dream.

We love the hills

We must be crazy. My dearest friend and riding partner ascending Brimestone on her commuter bike. Heavy. Fat under inflated tires. She slogged upwards. Never giving up. My. Idol. Rock. On. Dear One.

A lot has been happening.

Do I get an unexcused absence? Or excused?  A lot has been happening. Many long thought filled bike rides. Splashed with moments watering my veggie garden. After finally deciding to plant okra, cilantro, straw flowers and oregano. An odd mix; life mimics the garden. Which comes with a lovely bonus statue.

Blessings being what they are the okra, and straw flowers are germinating.

Enjoy! Life!

Yesterday - photo reprise

Yesterday was awesome. My dearest friend, Boston Brain Tumor Ride partner and I had a ride scheduled, the hills of Carter Drive for 5 PM. AT 4:30PM she called. She had a migraine all day. Still wanted to ride, but the flats. During the work day the boss, who is an rabid cyclist, asked about doing Carter, and joined in our plan. So the text was sent, no Carter my dearest friend is riding ill. No hills. There was disappointment but understood.

The flats were a fine 12 mile run. We were relaxed, and loose. Her head ache abated. The text was sent to the boss, meet at the entrance to Carter. I'm riding Prajna home and then if you want we can go. Text me and I'll see the plan. The miracle: he was on the road to Carter and would wait.

The hills of Carter were excellent. My boss on his mountain bike and I on my road bike are perfectly paired. In other words, the added drag of the fatter tires and heavier bike slows him to my speed. And not only Carter but he took me up the back side of Nobscot Mountain on Brimestone. It was an awesome challenging ride. Can't wait to go again.

I am so thankful for my health. What a gift.

One foot at a time

According to my trusty fit bit I've walked 1000 miles. WOW!!! No one is more amazed than I. How did I do it? Simply by putting one foot in front of the other.

The same applies for conquering all of life's tasks. Slow and steady.

A Glimpse

Do you ever get a glimpse? A quick peek of life's big picture? This is Stearn's Farm; a CSA. In our small corner of Framingham we are part of this growing picture. LOOK AT WHAT WE DID! Wow!

Progress

Almost done with this piece and did some rowing. Not happy with either result but isn't that life? We think. We design. We plan. We work. Some times we work really hard. And still, it's not to our liking. But in the end it's the fact that we put in the effort. For no one can take that away. And that we keep on trying. Until we do.

The More The Merrier

Went and saw a community production of Shrek last night. For most of the play there were two or three main characters on the stage. But the best parts were by far when the full cast was performing.

Lesson learned. Team efforts are always best.

Decisions. Time. Pain.

Time has been held at a premium lately. It's the end of school. The weather has been rainy. Both limiting outdoor exercise. Right now, the birds are singing. The roads are dry. My knee is stiff. I'm drawn to go for a ride, but I can't. The girls are still in school and I can't set out knowing they will be up soon. I can't upset the schedule. Two weeks and heading out on roads without killer traffic will be a no brainer. Patience. It's sealed with a kiss.

Look Who I Met.

Took a slow ride on neighborhood streets. Offering me the opportunity to move this guy out of middle of a road. Truly how lucky can a person be?

Seriously

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

I would work at the farm everyday if I could

We are truly blessed to belong to Stearns Farm where shareholders are required to put in hours. We learn so much while we are there. And we have met some rather lovely and sincere people.

Yesterday we planted fennel and lettuce, hoed, and picked the beet leaves that have attacked by leaf miners.

Community is a blessing.
