In today's local paper there is a report that states, "While toxins have seeped inside their home, a family living next to a Leland Street chemical plant is likely not at risk for cancer or other health problems, a new Board of Health study shows."
Likely, define that word for me. Likely, doesn't produce a cure for unchecked undetected toxin-induced cellular conditions brewing beneath the skin. Likely, doesn't mean all is safe and go about your business. For later on in the article the homeowners are urged not to let their 10 year old son play in their basement. Seriously...
The homeowners state they can't afford to move. General Chemical can't afford for them to remain in the house. And, it is my humble opinion, that General Chemical should buy out the homeowners at higher than market value. After all what is the market value of a home that has experienced a toxic leak, and is at risk of others? This family deserves to live in safe and suitable housing.
And Woodrow Wilson School across the way, what about all those students? What is the likely outcome of their exposure? What are the likely chances that General Chemical will be sued repeatedly in the future? I would put my money on likely.

Thanks ptcakes, the worry/wondering has been the worst part of all this.
Nice post. Important post. Hope it helps those take action that should, but likely won't.
