My Motto

I usually reserve this motto for the Boston Brain Tumor 25 mile ride of hills, but really it applies to all of life, even putting out a sh(&&@ first draft of a book.

With A Little Help has been stewing in my brain for too many years. I was afraid to sit and write because I didn't know all its details. Afraid it wouldn't be perfect.

Fear not! It's a terrible first draft but it is indeed a starting point for great things to come.

Patty, brave post. Congratulations. Love the honesty and vulnerability. The first five chapters I felt like I could keep up with all the amazing twists and turns. Very intriguing to read. Chapters six-eight have me a bit unsure of who's doing what and why.

I'm a little slow so it could just be me.

The one thing that's crystal clear, is there are mysteries and events that are compelling us to turn the page to see what happens next.

Keep writing.

Jeff,
Thanks for your encouragement. Hoping to squeeze in some writing time this weekend. I'm actually working on Chapter 30. So it's interesting to retread these first attempt chapters weeks later. I really dislike a lot of Chapter 8. I'm tempted to go back and rewrite now... But I won't. Must keep moving forward. Hopefully all will be made clear.

The story is for young adults so it must keep moving forward to keep their interest.

It's great that you've defined your audience, and knowing that clearly now, the fast pace makes perfect sense.

Keep writing, as a mantra, and as a mission.
